A new step for me, a fall open studio. I’ll have landscapes large and small, tiny lovebird paintings, and notecards for sale. Weather permitting, there will be art both outside in the garden, and inside the studio. I’ll be keeping track of our numbers so we don’t become a crowd, but bring a mask for safety.

I've been taking classes out for a few years, and we always find new subjects and ways to approach them. And there are old favorite places as well.
The class is designed for those people who:
may have painted but want to try landscape,
need help getting started,
would like to try a different approach,
want help getting past the start
.We will go to places nearby, where there is a bit of wildness, but also a bit of city. I avoid long walks with heavy equipment. Of course, we will need masks just in case, and a way to clean hands, or gloves.
The class will meet on site Wednesday mornings at 9:30 or 10, finishing around 1. First class starts August 11.
If you sign up, I will send you directions to the locations.

Fast and slow drawing, working from the inside structures and outside reference points, training eye and intuition: We'll approach our understanding of our fellow human bodies using charcoal, cut paper, chalk, and paint. The best way to gain skill is to practice! Class is for beginners or experienced artists, following exercises or working more independently. Class sessions will begin with 30 minutes of warmup drawings, followed by 20 and 40 minute poses, working up to longer poses in subsequent sessions. Ages 18 & up welcome. Model fee included.

Landscape Painting Classes Friday mornings Ongoing
Update: Class starting Friday, March 29
Some of the best painting days I've had have been in winter. Rain brings green hills and wildflowers. On a sunny day in a sheltered spot, the shadows are amazing. Of course, rain postpones class till the next week, but there are many sunny days in January, February and March.
The class is for people who have painted, would like to try landscape, but feel they need help getting started, for people who would like to try a different approach to the one they have been using, or people who feel they know how to start but want help (or just input) getting past the start.
I can offer tips on getting started with composition, color, and flow. It's all about the process. And how you can make it fit your abilities and inclinations.
We visit places nearby, where there is a bit of wildness. As a rather lazy person, I tend to avoid long walks with heavy equipment. (The struggle to set up can get in the way of the art).
If you think you might be interested in joining me, the class will generally meet on site Friday mornings at 9:30 or 10, till around 1. There will be 8 classes. First class meets at my studio and proceeds to to a site close at hand. (Aquatic Park? the North Branch of the library?)
There will be a demonstration, tips on getting started, help along the way, and show-and-tell. We'll go twice to a spot unless it's impossible because of wind or other issues. Communication individually by email so you get the right equipment and materials from the get-go. If enough people want to try locations farther away, we could make a trip to Mt Diablo or China Camp, both State Parks.
The 8 week series will be $250. There will be 2 or 3 makeup days for those who have to miss dates..
Send a message through contact menu if you are interested.
